JOURNEY TO THE END OF THE NIGHT

— A city-wide game of cat and mouse —

September 27th 18:30 - 23:30
Amsterdam

You're at the starting line. A map in hand. Heart pounding. Your mission: reach every checkpoint and make it to the end… un-caught. Run, hide, navigate, and outsmart your way through the city!

This is not a dream, nor a simulation.
This is Journey to the End of the Night, a real chase through the streets of Amsterdam.
You, and a crowd of others, trying to reach the final checkpoint untouched.
Behind every corner could be an ambush. Every stranger could be a threat.

For the very first time, this legendary urban adrenaline-filled street game hits the Netherlands.

Journey to the end of the Night

What to Expect?

Journey to the End of the Night is a thrilling game of tag, played at night in the streets of Amsterdam. Players with blue ribbons must reach a series of checkpoints and make it to the finish, while avoiding the red-ribboned chasers.

Get caught? You become a chaser too. Former allies become targets. The longer the night goes on, the harder it gets.

Expect adrenaline. Clever navigation. And constant paranoia:
“Is that person behind me… running towards me?!”

For whom?

For adventurous adults who love to move, explore cities, and thrive on playful tension.

You don't need to be fast, stealth and cleverness go a long way.
Come alone or with friends. You'll bond quickly once the game begins.
The more, the merrier, bring your friends!

This is an intense, unforgettable experience. One you'll remember and tell stories about.

Tips for the Night

  • Stay alert: Your best defense is your awareness, safety first, always.
  • Play fair: Respect your fellow runners and chasers, we're all here for the thrill.
  • Wear dark clothes and good shoes: You'll be running, hiding, and blending into the night.
  • Layer up: The night can get cold, especially after running full speed.
  • Stay hydrated: Bring a water bottle, your brain and legs will thank you.
  • Leave valuables at home: Travel light and stay focused on the chase.
  • Charge your phone: You might need it to navigate, or just in case something goes wrong.
  • Come with an open mind: This is a game of movement, tension, and fun, lean into the experience.
  • Don't cheat: Outsmart others with your wits, not by breaking the rules. Cheating ruins the fun for everyone.

Spread the Word

In order for a great game to happen, we need a lot of people playing! However, the Journey is organised without budget for advertising, this means we need your help to get the word out. Yes, you, the potential player. Bring your friends, your enemies, anyone you know (or don't really know), especially those that you think you can outrun.

Great games need great crowds.
Help us spread the word, we have no marketingbudget, just your enthusiasm.
Invite friends, strangers, specially those that you think you can outrun. ;)

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I play alone or in teams?

Journey is played individually, but you're free to work together during the game. This applies to both runners and chasers. Everyone starts as a runner, but once you're tagged, you become a chaser yourself. There are no fixed teams - you have the freedom to run, hunt and work together with others.

How can I help?

Most importantly, talk it up. If you are excited about playing this game, inform everyone you come across between now and game time. The bulk of our players heard about this game by the genius of advertising that is 'word-of-mouth'. Repost our Instagram post and tell all your friends about it! Let's do this Amsterdam!

Is this game scary?

Only if you're scared of being chased in the dark by strangers. So… maybe a little.

Is it competitive?

Not really. It's about the journey, not just the finish. Some try hard to win. Others just love the thrill.

What if I get tired?

Rest anytime. There's no shame in taking a breather.

Do I need to be fit?

It helps, but cleverness, stealth, and shortcuts go a long way.

Can I come in costume?

Absolutely. Especially if you're a chaser, capes, masks, cloaks… bring the drama.

What happens at the end?

A celebration. Drinks. Stories.

What if I haven't received the location email and the event is soon?

If you haven't received the email with location and important info within 5 days of the event, please check your spam folder first. If you still can't find the email, send us a message at info@speeels.nl and we'll help you out.

What time will the event start?

We will meet around 18:30, but the exact time will be shared via email with all participants a few days before the event.

Can I arrive late?

What time will the event last?

The event will run until around midnight.

Is there a minimum age?

Participants should be 18 or older.

Can I come alone?

Absolutely! You can play the game alone, but it's more fun to bring some friends. But you will make friends along the way as well. Forming new bonds and alliances along the way is part of the journey.

Can I participate as a team or in pairs?

Absolutely. You can play the game together with as many people as you like, but be prepared for what happens when one of you gets caught by a chaser and becomes one yourself. It's rare to finish the game with the same people you started with. Forming new bonds and alliances along the way is part of the journey.

Do I need any prior experience to participate?

No experience is necessary! The game is designed for anyone who enjoys playful challenges and outdoor adventures.

Does the game involve running?

Yes, you'll be running a lot. But you can also hide and sneak.

Will there be support along the route?

What if it rains?

The game will still take place unless the weather poses a safety risk (like a storm). In case of cancellation, you will be notified via email.
